Too often we find ourselves stuck in our daily routine, limiting our chance to gain new experiences and grow personally or professionally. A comfort zone is exactly that – it is a place in our lives where we feel safe and secure, but not always content.
“You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.”Roy T. Bennett
Stepping outside of our comfort zone is intimidating at first because of all of its uncertainty. We’re believers that it’s better to chase your dreams and learn something new along the way rather than to sit complacently and wonder later on, “what if.” If you’re not quite convinced, here are three reasons your comfort zone may not be so comfortable.
I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “the greater the risk, the greater the reward.” This is true as it applies to your own life as well. The most rewarding experiences in life are often the most challenging- they are the experiences where we risked absolutely everything and were terrified at first, but are able to proudly look back later on. I’m sure you can recall a time in your life where this was true. The first step in deciding to step outside of your comfort zone is trusting you already have the tools to be successful, and knowing that everything is going to work out exactly as it should.
We’ve all reached a point in our lives where things start to seem monotonous. Work, eat, sleep, and repeat. While it is nice having a routine, such routines can dull our creativity and spirit. Have you been dreaming lately that you wish something about your life was different? If so, use this as motivation to manifest your dreams into a reality. Make a small change, and then work towards something bigger.
Remember when your best friend started that new workout routine, and you decided to join in because of her success? And maybe that workout wasn’t right for you, but you learned something new, right? That is how motivation works- there’s a ripple effect. When others see you making changes- whether that’s family or friends- you inspire action. Your courage not only makes you stronger, but it makes them stronger as well.
If you don’t step outside of your comfort zone, then you’ll always be comfortable. But comfortable is not passion. It is not unforgettable. It is not thrilling. And yes, taking that first step can be terrifying, but trust that you already have exactly what it takes to make your dreams a reality! We believe in you.
